Pennie Princess for K-9's

They call her "The Pennie Princess" - a little girl with a big idea. She wanted to do something to protect the dogs that protect all of us, Police K-9's. So, she came up with a plan and went about making it happen, one penny at a time.

On a hot day in Riverside, 9 year-old Alyssa Mayorga relaxes with her new friends, dogs at the Adlerhorst Academy. The academy is where police K-9's from all over the state are trained. Now, thanks to Alyssa, three of these dogs now have the protection of bulletproof vests.

Alyssa saved the money for the vests by picking up and collecting pennies. First, she started picking up pennies. Then she started asking people for their pennies. When people heard what she wanted them for-- she started getting nickels and dimes and quarters too.

After a year of collecting, she had enough to buy three K-9 vests.

Allyssa's not done yet, she is collecting more change to buy more vests. If you would like to contact Allyssa about making a donation you can e-mail here at pennieprincess@aol.com or call
